This is the new Cyber-shot DSC-HX50V Sony just announced and with dimensions of 108.1 x 63.6 x 38.3 mm and a weight (including battery) just over 270 grams becomes the first so-called traveling in daring compact with 30x zoom. An optical luminosity with f3.5-6.3 and 3 axis stabilizer that promises to double its efficiency with respect to that used in previous models.

HX20V Relay, sporting a 20x zoom; higher resolution is another argument of this renewal. This Cyber-shot has a small 20-megapixel CMOS (18 in the previous generation) and 1/2, 3 inch. A sensor that opens the door to capture bursts of up to 10 frames per second.

In the list of specifications are Wi-Fi (another new feature compared to its predecessor) and GPS. It has, as is usual in this range, manual controls and full HD video recording.

Sony is expected to launch in with a price of 440 euros. The firm will accompany this model with another version called HX50, devoid of GPS, available for 420 euros.

Having joined this site today, brought here by my searching for reviews of the X100S, I’m struck by the emotions the advent of the ‘S’, and its previous iteration the X100, have elicited in all and sundry.

It speaks volumes for the camera that so many people feel moved to write something about it. Some praise it to the heavens, while others pick holes in it.

It’s a camera primarily aimed at those who enjoy close quarters photography. If a snapper needs more pull, then he/she should invest in a telephoto or zoom set-up. Horses for courses.
I have three 1970s rangefinders, a D300 with various primes, and a good quality 4x compact. I want to buy the X100S because it offers astoundingly good high ISO performance. The Nikon will be sold, along with a couple of lenses, to help pay for it. I’d like to think that in some photography forum of 2030, I’ll be writing that I have " a Fuji X100S, along with…. ".

The ‘decisive moment’ has been mentioned, which always calls to mind Cartier-Bresson ( although I’m fairly sure he never coined that phrase ). He did say, though, that people put too much emphasis on sharpness, instead of concentrating on capturing the image. He was talking about street stuff. Buy the Fuji if you like and do ‘street’ – some pros are even saying they would be happy to shoot weddings with it. The RX1 is a groundbreaker ; the latest dSLRs also. I don’t see the volume of debate that the X100S is attracting being offered up for any new camera. That much alone speaks volumes for the innovation, looks and image quality of the Fuji. This machine has only been around for two years. Give Fuji a chance to develop it and its innovations further. They have been producing new ideas in photography since the 1940s Fujica, and now they are on a roll that is shaking up the camera market. That can only be good for us, and as portability becomes more and more important in everyday life, mirrorless will become the norm pretty soon, and, along with bright ideas like the Lytro , will slowly but surely consign the dSLR to history.

When Nikon release D700 model of their professional, full-equipped all-use, camera device, it seemed to be an achievement never to be topped. Even though there are various models, of various manufacturers, such as Canon, Nikon remains at the lead-place for designing professional camera devices, with distinctive ability to top the competition with something new, innovative and completely customer-oriented. This time they did it with Nikon D800 camera.

Nikon D800 is considered world’s top digital single lens reflex camera for indoor and outdoor use, equally successfully serving the photographer in various conditions from nature and landscape to portraits and whole asset of various features nailed down with whooping 36.3Mp.

Features and performance

Nikon D800 immediately catches the attention of professionals. Serving both, as an outstanding recording device and professional photograph shooting, Nikon D800 comes handy in various situations. Most of the landscape photograph enthusiasts will go for it due to its brand new sensor that provides 36.8 million pixels with the maximum output of 36.3.

With resolution benefits and ISO format highly upgraded comparing to the latest releases of Nikon D-series, D800 makes a perfect choice for high-res photographing and recording. Those who are looking for to make some video shots, you will happily receive the information that Nikon D800 makes 1080p high-res video with uncompressed HDMI output and robust audio monitoring options.

Frame rate obtained in full-resolution modes is somewhat slower comparing to the previous series. Surprisingly it achieves 4fps in full-res modes comparing to 8fps at its predecessor – D700 Nikon. This device performs at the top level in all the weather and lighting conditions with robust battery life lasting at 850 shots image battery life. The tests done at Nikon implied the use of flash and the most battery-dragging features, thus it is to believe the camera could hold it slightly longer than 850. It goes for 30, 25 or 24 fps depending on the needs of the photographer holding it.

As for those who like to wander around during the late hours and snap a high quality photos – Nikon has prepared 51 autofocus points with 91,000-pixel metering system. Nikon D800 easily focuses down to -2EV which together with ISO 25, 600, achieved at Hi 2 setting, makes this device the way to go in a low-light conditions shooting, considering no-extreme image noise levels.

For the video shooting enthusiasts – Nikon D800 makes a great device to play with when shooting slow-motion videos. Given its fps rates of 50 and 60 at 720p, this camera guarantees unique experience of shooting slow-mo footages.

Wrapping up

Nikon D800 is one of the leading photo-shooting video-recording devices on the market. Fierce competition is going to make this race even more interesting as Nikon has recently gained a severe competitor in Canon’s EOS 5D Mark III gaining on the most features and taking whole competition at the higher level. By the time we see the newer releases from both manufacturers – Nikon D800 remains one of the most suitable cameras for professional photoshooting.

The Canon EOS 6D is ranked among the most affordable full-frame SLR cameras. In terms of sensor, it matches the luxurious 5D Mark III, but the controls are more like the cheaper 60D. In the history of Canon SLR, first time Wi-Fi and GPS has been incorporated into their camera. If you are wondering about the price tag, the EOS 6D lies in between the 60D and 5D Mark III. It offers low noise and big viewfinder that are integrated into this full-frame camera and often tempting for keen amateurs.

What Is It?

A 20.2 MP full-frame sensor DSLR, equipped with a Wi-Fi support will cost you in the region $2100 only. At this price you will only get an entry level full-frame Nikon D600. However, if you compare its price with 6D’s big brother Canon 5D Mark III, it is $1000 less.

Who’s It For?

The EOS 6D is ideal for both amateur as well as professional photographers, and for the ones who want a full-frame sensor with wide field of view, stallar low light capabilities, shallow depth of field at a relatively low price range.

Design

Comparing it with other members of the Canon DSLR family, the 6D hold many advantages. It is smaller and lighter than its big brother, 5D Mark III. Almost the same size as the Canon 7D. The most noticeable difference from previous models is the rear control scheme, which is a common occurrence with Canon, as they like to shift controls around with each model. Overall, there is no problem with the scheme followed in 6D, however you can easily mishit control pad with the wheel.

Using It

The autofocus system is simpler in the 6D but still it is fast and extremely accurate. It supports a single SDXL card slot as compared to the CF slots found in older versions. There are not so much other differences.

Talking about the 6D’s Wi-Fi function, it works just fine. You can easily control your camera remotely for downloading images using Canon’s app for Android or iOS. However, it is odd to see its video recording feature disabled while turning on its Wi-Fi, this could have been a big attraction for a tablet or smartphone user for shooting videos remotely.

In terms of the image quality, the 6D is equivalent to the 5D Mark III, which is commendable. It captures images with great sharpness and producing low noise images at great ISOs. This quality can only be bettered by Nikon’s D600 or D800.

However, in terms of its video quality, the 6D is not even close to the 5D MK3, which did so well in this department that no other DSLR has ever come close. Only this feature or lack of it, ruins the chances of 6D to replace 5D3 effectively.

Pros

The Canon EOS 6D is known for its excellent image quality, solid and robust build quality, impressive results in low-light, Wi-Fi and GPS support, and accurate metering system.

Cons

Comparing with other cameras in this price range, there is not much to say but if it improves on the following features, the 6D will beat any camera.

· The Wi-Fi and GPS can easily drain battery.

· It has only one cross-type AF sensor.

· There is no built-in pop-up flash.

· Manual audio control for HD video is missing.

Final Thoughts

If you are not concerned about the video capabilities then the Canon EOS 6D is the best choice for you. It will take amazing pictures at a comparatively lower price.

Over the last several years, Canon has gained legendary status through its 5D series cameras. Their full frame sensors of 35mm film size make it a popular choice among quality cameras. But with almost half the price of Canon’s flagship 1D range, they are ideal purchase for the amateur and semi-professional photographers.

Introducing EOS 5D Mark III

The 5D Mark III camera is considered an absolute triumph for both professional and non-professional photography. It has got many qualities like speed, efficient and comprehensive controls, and when it comes down to pure image quality it is simply breathtaking. Among all its amazing colors and other qualities, what separates it from the rest is its incredible low noise. It allows action photography without needing to buy fast telephoto lenses that are very expensive. It also takes away the pressure from shutter speeds and balancing ISO in the low light.

Its predecessor, the Cannon 5D Mark II was considered a groundbreaking release in the sense that before it was not possible to shoot a video in full 1080p using a handheld camera. Now after 3 years, Cannon has released its newer version, Mark III. We will look at the features that make it worth buying.

The Pros

The sound is the most improved feature on the Mark III from its previous version. Before it was almost impossible to hear recorded sound but now with the inclusion of the built in headphone jack, you can easily listen to everything that has been recorded. The addition of manual audio levels is also commendable and watching the meters on screen during the recording is also a great feature. The audio levels can also be changed using a touch wheel that is very easy to use.

Another fantastic improvement with picture styles is that there is no more aliasing or moiré. You could hardly sharpen the footage in the postproduction while working with the Mark II, but with its newest version Mark III you can sharpen the image with a clean image provided from the camera. As the built in sharpening feature of the Mark III is a little flat, you can easily do this task in the postproduction. That really enhances the original muddy like footage taken straight from the camera. The drawback is its rolling-shutter which almost all of the SLR cameras have got.

The recording time has also improved, as with this new version you can record clips up to 30 minutes. Generally, cameras that come with more than 30 minutes of recording time are classified as a full video camera. Another enhancement from Mark II is the 60fps at 720p, which is not a new feature as it has already been included on many Canon cameras previously.

Another remarkable improvement has been seen in Mark III’s low light capabilities. After low light testing, you will be absolutely amazed at 6400 ISO on the Mark III. Noise levels have improved tremendously and anything with 3200 or less is completely useable and very clean.

The Cons

· As compared to earlier releases, there has not been a great improvement with the resolution and the detail of an image.

· Another huge disappointment is that at 1080p, there is no clean output available. You might be possible to get it fixed with its firmware update but Canon has disappointed on this one.

· If you are looking for the ability to see focus while you are recording then this feature is not available in this version.

Conclusion

Mark III is definitely worth buying in my view. Its headphone jack and low light capabilities are a huge attraction if you are documentary filmmaker or just an amateur movie maker.

Features and Design

By the looks of the Canon EOS Rebel T3i, it seems much like any other entry level and mid-range DSLRs. Its form and style really impresses everyone. If you see it’s back then you will notice that it is one of the coolest features like a 3-inch vari-angle LCD screen which has an impressive 1 million pixels. If you compare it with 921K of Nikon’s D7000, it’s slightly better. Also in terms of the flexibility it is better than the Nikon. You can use Cannon while holding the camera over your head as well as aim low while you press the shutter. This way you can open up several new angles of photography, which you must use. You can also turn it around and shoot with its optical viewfinder while the screen is protected.

The lens mount on the front is considered to be the most important feature like any other DSLR. The Canon EF mount of the all black T3i accepts over 60 EF-S lenses. There is also a remote sensor on the grip with a textured surface, lens release, a 4 pinhole mic and depth-of-field preview buttons.

For accessories, there is also a hot shoe that is located before the auto pop-up flash, power switch, the mode dial, display, the ISO buttons, and the jog wheel that is used to make menu tunings. The shutter of DSLR is beautifully angled on the comfortable grip. Canon possesses known for its typical mode dial that is made with a mixture of common scene, movie setting, and manual options. Its latest, Scene Intelligent Auto “A+”, is souped up smart auto. Its purpose is to analyse the subject found in front of the camera while adjusting Picture Style Auto Plus, auto white balance, the automatic lighting optimizer, automatic exposure, and autofocus. You will be see that it works quite well, however there are many tweaks for the Picture Styles available as soon as you move out of A+.

The T3i consists of an optical viewfinder and great screen located at the back, having coverage of 95% and 0.85x magnification. Even though its viewfinder is not the brightest but it will do the job just fine. Its rubber eyecup and a dioptre control will help you adjust according to your eyesight. There are quite a few buttons like Delete, Playback, Q, Exposure Compensation, Live view, Info, and Menu. A quick access is provided to white balance, burst/self-timer, Picture or Styles, and AF through the 4-way controller. During playback you can shrink or enlarge the images with the help of 2 buttons in the top right corner. Also you will find a thumb rest along with a tiny speaker and a textured finish.

This T3i is a very handy as well as well-designed DSLR which you can pick up easily and start shooting. As it has so many things, it may take a while before you master all of its functions.

Pros

· Good video quality

· Articulating monitor

· Excellent images

Cons

· Low battery life in Live View

· Slow AF in video/Live View

· No video continuous AF

Conclusion

For all those aspiring photographers who want to make a name, the Conon EOS Rebel T3i that is a new addition of an impressive Rebel line, can be considered a good investment. In this price range you will not find a better camera that takes better still shots. Another positive feature is the video modes which are quite comprehensive, if handled well they will produce excellent quality for you.

Canon has also produced similar products having 18MP DSLRs in the price range of Rebel T3i, namely T2i and 60D. Without a doubt, the image quality they possess is excellent but at the same time they are not at par with Rebel T3i, when it comes to best mix of overall features.

The latest Canon EOS rebel T4i has released, it also is a good choice, see there difference: t3i vs t4i
May you like:
T4i vs 60d

Today with wide range of professional camera’s available in market, it is easy for you to get confused as to which is the best one to buy. And the new Nikon D5100 with its features and performance will surely make your task of buying the best easier and less confusing.

Nikon is one of the best brands in camera market and with its new model Nikon D5100 it has head to head competition in market. Nikon D5100 is of single lens reflex (SLR) which is great for taking professional snaps. It has resolution of 16.2 megapixels and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR zoom lens system to provide you with excellent image quality. Its CMOS sensor with ISO 100-6400 range helps you to take pictures faster and less blurred. The 11-point AF system in this camera helps you to take pictures of subjects with sharpness wherever it is in the frame and retain subject focus with its exclusive 3D tracking irrespective of changes in composition. It has high speed, approximately 4 frames per second when continuous shooting. And the cameras large optical viewfinder will ensure you an image that is precise and has focus in every moment.

Nikon D5100 is very flexible and that is because of its ‘vari angle LCD monitor’, which lets you take pictures and videos from every single angle with ease be it a ground level shot or an overhead shot. The vari angle LCD monitor is 3.o inch and 921,000-dot super density. The video/movie recording in this digital camera is of very high-quality as it is full HD 1080p,720p and WVGA, along with superb sound recording capability, which makes your videos/movies look more real. The extra effects always make picture look more artsy and creative and without these effects they look dull and boring. Nikon D5100 has fantastic special effects like night vision, high key, low key, miniature effect, colour sketch and so on that can be used for still pictures as well as for D-movie HD movies with full time auto focus. It also has High Dynamic Range (HDR) to make your pictures look more real by combining two exposures with wide dynamic range, less noise, and richer colour gradation.

Nikon D5100 is easy to use as the physical controls are not awkwardly placed for a user to accidently take pictures. It is very classy as well as easy to carry which is fit for the user. In terms of cost it is affordable and worth it as it covers all things which are required in a digital camera.

Lastly, this digital camera model by Nikon is very appealing with a perfect blend of quality, performance, features, affordability and not to forget design.
