An objective equivalent to 24-720 mm on a pocket camera, almost. This is the new Cyber-shot DSC-HX50V Sony just announced and with dimensions of 108.1 x 63.6 x 38.3 mm and a weight (including battery) just over 270 grams becomes the first so-called traveling in daring compact with 30x zoom. An optical luminosity with f3.5-6.3 and 3 axis stabilizer that promises to double its efficiency with respect to that used in previous models.

HX20V Relay, sporting a 20x zoom; higher resolution is another argument of this renewal. This Cyber-shot has a small 20-megapixel CMOS (18 in the previous generation) and 1/2, 3 inch. A sensor that opens the door to capture bursts of up to 10 frames per second.

In the list of specifications are Wi-Fi (another new feature compared to its predecessor) and GPS. It has, as is usual in this range, manual controls and full HD video recording.

Sony is expected to launch in with a price of 440 euros. The firm will accompany this model with another version called HX50, devoid of GPS, available for 420 euros.

Think from Fujifilm X100S

by Mavis on April 25, 2013

Having joined this site today, brought here by my searching for reviews of the X100S, I’m struck by the emotions the advent of the ‘S’, and its previous iteration the X100, have elicited in all and sundry.

It speaks volumes for the camera that so many people feel moved to write something about it. Some praise it to the heavens, while others pick holes in it.

It’s a camera primarily aimed at those who enjoy close quarters photography. If a snapper needs more pull, then he/she should invest in a telephoto or zoom set-up. Horses for courses.
I have three 1970s rangefinders, a D300 with various primes, and a good quality 4x compact. I want to buy the X100S because it offers astoundingly good high ISO performance. The Nikon will be sold, along with a couple of lenses, to help pay for it. I’d like to think that in some photography forum of 2030, I’ll be writing that I have " a Fuji X100S, along with…. ".
